Our Policies

An application must be filled out in order to obtain a library card. The applicant must be present to apply for and receive their library card. Applicants under 18 years of age must have a parent present to sign their application and be responsible. Children must be 10 years or older to apply for a card. Lost or damaged cards cost $1.00 to replace. Library card must be present to check out materials.

Patrons are limited to having six books checked out at one time. You will be told when your books are due at check out. Books may be checked out for a four week period and may be renewed one time for another four week period. To renew a book you may do one of the following:1. Renew through our online catalog. Call to renew at 651-214-9395. Email your renewal request to shannontobiaslibrary@gmail.com. Renewals must be requested on or before the day your books are due, otherwise late fees will accrue until you do renew. 

Late fees accrue when your items are overdue. The late fee charge is 25 cents per item per week. Late fees will be collected at the time the books are returned. Please keep track of your due date! Reminder notices may NOT always be available.If a book is returned damaged or not returned at all, you will be required to pay the replacement cost for the item so that a new copy may be acquired for the library. Charges may also apply to damaged spine labels. 

You can schedule a variety of appointment types, including Library Time. We have a Book Delivery/Book Pickup option available within 12 miles. We also offer Mini Branch or Mobile Library Setup options for co-ops and others. 

Please follow these simple guidelines while your borrowed books are home with you:

• Do not write in books, earmark pages, curl front covers backward, or use books as coasters.
• Do take very good care of the books in your care.
• If it’s raining or snowing, have a bag handy for transport.
